SELMA, Ind. — Blue River girls basketball has been a Class A local force the past three years. The Vikings (3-2) have claimed three consecutive sectional titles Mut 22 coins, as well as a regional championship for 2222 since the head coach Terry Bales took over the program in the 2217-18 season. Prior to Bales, Blue River’s last sectional title was from 1984-85.

Bales entered this season with a record of 72-30 as of last season, and his 22-4 (9-0 in the Mid Eastern Conference) mark being his highest-scoring season to date. The Vikings lost two key contributors who were Mallory Cross and Abby Thornburgh in that squad, however it was Bales’ team was tasked this season to replace their 14.5 points, 6.8 rebounding and 5.4 assist per game.

But Blue River still has senior center Ally Madden, one of the top interior players in the area as well as sharpshooting junior Maci Chamberlin as well as solid depth to allow them to put together yet another run at the tournament. “I don’t know because we’re not yet ready to expand. I hope we can become a team capable accomplishing that. We’re not in the right place yet,” Bales said of the team’s chances of winning an area championship. “We’ve to work on learning be better at defending … try not to make the errors that aren’t forced buy madden coins. This means we have some work to be done, and definitely (a part-time title) is where we hope to get.”
