Pastor Bob and his Rent to Own Mail List have received a lot of bad press over the past year or so. We’ve heard that many people quit when they realize how much work it takes just to get started. We’ve also heard that a lot of people ended up on the “No Mail List,” which is a real problem for any MLM opportunity. So, what’s going on with this controversy?

Well, let’s start by looking at why Randy Naver, owner of the Rent to Own Mail List, would share his statistics with the media. This is because he wants people to come to his website and sign up for his multi-level marketing opportunity. Let me put it to you like this: if you were selling pork bellies to the general public, wouldn’t you want to know where your customers were going? Would you be more inclined to email them each day or come by and visit them in person? Of course, you’d go for the email option.

Now, we all know that Randy Naver has a great product, and a large number of people have joined his list. But let me ask you a question. Have you ever bought something from a company and bought something else shortly thereafter because you didn’t like what you saw? Most people wouldn’t. This is why I’m wondering whether or not pastor bob and his Rent to Own Mail List really have a legitimate business plan.

First of all, we know that Randy Naver says that he’s had success building this business. However, he’s also talked about how hard it’s been to get customers to come in. Did his customers just go back to where they came from? Did they go back to the same no-show destination they had gone to before or the very first company they joined? If this is true, then I would have to say that most of his customers were never even in his list to begin with!

Of course, the only way for Randy to get any customers in the first place, is to convince them that he is the one they need to follow, not Bob Edwards. So what’s going on here? Are some of these customers gay people who were attracted to the ads for rent to own and now are scared straight because someone is telling them to get a piggy bank and join the list? I don’t think so. I think that these folks are just afraid of what might happen should they date someone from the wrong side of the tracks (i.e., Randy Naver).

Now then, I suppose that this makes sense. Would it make sense if pastor bob is a Southern Baptist with a dry eye and wants to attract gay people to his church? I’m sure it wouldn’t. It’s the same thing with being attracted to the mailers for buy to let. That didn’t make me want to date Randy Naver or become a buy to let property owner.

All it did was confuse me. And it confused me even more when I read the next morning’s paper. The B&B advertised that they had invited Randy to their “Pork Roast.” No, they didn’t say that we have a dry eye – that just came up in my mind. But since I’m not much of a planner, it wouldn’t have hurt to have some sort of plan going in november.

So what’s going on? Apparently, the world is going to be a lot less predictable this year, so instead of worrying about what the government is doing, I’d better just play it safe and go with my gut. Play it safe by taking out an ad in the newspaper that says something like “Randy Naver is looking for a november Christian Property Manager to manage our november flock. Come to Randy’s Home for the Holidays and have a great time with our talented & caring team of property managers, representing the Lord.”
